Why is there water under my refrigerator?

Coastal humidity gives the drain more work than the design assumed. More moisture lands on the evaporator each cycle, more meltwater has to be carried away, and a drain that is only partly clear will manage in a dry climate and lose here. Once it ices shut the water leaves the cabinet by the lowest route available, which is why the wet patch usually turns up at the base a good distance from anything that is actually wrong. Clearing the blockage is only half of it: the line gets followed the whole way down to the pan, and on units built with a drain heater that heater is tested, because a passage that has iced shut once will do it again the moment the weather turns.

When the fault is the supply line, the fitting is what matters. These fail at the joint rather than along the tube, and putting in a fresh length while leaving a tired fitting in place is how the same leak returns a month later. On integrated installs we also want to see how the line was routed during the remodel. A line pinched behind a filler panel or drawn tight against a cabinet return takes a strain every time the unit is pulled for service, and that is where the next failure is already being set up.

Meanwhile: close the valve feeding the ice maker if you can reach it, get something absorbent under the front, and lift anything that matters off the floor nearby. Please do not drag the unit out to look behind it. Built-in rollers and finished flooring rarely both survive that, a flush-set custom panel is easy to catch on the way past, and everything we need is reachable from the front regardless.
